Cereal Box Stars
So, I got this idea off of Pinterest. They are super easy to make!
This is how I made mine.
This is how I made mine.
First you want to unfold your cereal boxes. Cut along the side of your box length wise, then open the top & bottom. It should look like this:
Then I got a piece of scrap paper and drew a star. The more "perfect" your star is the better it will fold later. Try to get it as even as possible. It would be easier to print off a star from Google images or something, but I don't own a printer so I got out my ruler & did it the hard way. After you get your star as good as it's going to get..you trace it onto your card board.
Use a ruler, or anything with a straight edge and make a line from the points crossing through the middle of the star. This is where you will be able to tell just how "perfect" your star is. You want the lines to all intersect the middle at the same point..my stars were a little off so my lines don't form one point. If yours don't either, it's okay it will still look good & more than likely you are the only one that will notice your star isn't perfect.
It should look something like this:
After you draw your lines, cut out your stars.
Then you fold the star along the lines until you get it to look like this:
Paint them whatever color that would look good with your home decor..
I picked red, white, and blue, because my husband's in the Army & we keep it Patriotic up in here. :)
To be specific..I used "vintage white" because I like the old style red, white, & blue.. I only had red, like fire engine red, and blue like blue blue, not navy blue..so I had to mix my "burgundy & navy" colors. You don't have to have a tube of paint in every color. Mixing paint to get the desired shade you want is simple. If you have bright red, like I did, and want a darker shade of red just mix some black paint (try a small amount first, you can always add more) in with the red until you get the shade you want. The more black you mix in, the darker the shade. If you want a lighter shade of red, mix in white until you get the shade you want.

To make the little stars on my flag star I used a piece of cardboard from the cereal box and just cut out smaller stars, then painted them, and used my glue gun to glue them on.
I am having some trouble hanging them on my wall. I tried tape, but by the end of the day they had all fallen off. Someone suggested using Velcro, but I don't know how good that would work either. If you have any suggestions please let me know!
Hope this tutorial was helpful!

If not, I used The Glue Gun Girl 's tutorial to get mine started.
UPDATE
So, I did finally figure out what to do with my stars.
I hung 3 in our kitchen and set the big star on top of our bedroom dresser.
I braided strips of newspaper and used scotch tape to attach them to the bottom of our cabinets.
I didn't think it would look as good as it does..but I love it!
